West Lakes LAC will host Regional Day for
our zone. Athletes from surrounding clubs
participate at this friendly regional
meeting. Details of the programme will
follow. There is no nomination fee
required for this meet and it is open to
all registered athletes. The event will be
held at Alan Iverson Reserve, Langham
Place, Port Adelaide, warm-up starting at
9.00am. Just turn up in your full AE
uniform. Any personal best performances
will be recorded. Information and

Relay Championships -
Sunday 4 Dec 2011
Athlete Registration Cut Off: 25 Nov 2011
Weeks 2 to 5 of our Friday
night home meets will be used to select the
track relay teams in the Under 9 and above
age groups.
And times can be submitted from Regional
day.
Athletes will be selected by the club
committee, based on their two (2) best times
over the four weeks. The teams will be
announced and athletes need to confirm their
availability. Information and relay training
will be provided.
Please note: once you have been selected in
a team, it is very important that you attend
the event - unless ALL 4 runners are present
- the other team members will not be able to
participate - if you don't turn up on the
day.
One of the most exciting days on
the programme is the Relay Championships.
This event gives centres a chance to
develop team spirit. It is an ideal
opportunity for children to compete
together as a team. There is a March Past
at 11am.
The track relay teams(all boys, all
girls) compete in;
U9 to U11: 4x100m and
4x 200m relay.
U12
to U17: 4x100m and 4x 400m Relay.
Field
relay
teams compete in two throwing and
two jumping events. The club will only
enter field relay teams if athletes
nominate for the events.
Athletes must be registered by 25 November
to qualify. A parent from each team will
be asked to act as manager of the team.
Other parents will need to act as
timekeepers and marshalls on the day.

Santos Stadium, January 16-20 2012
A week (or choose individual days) of
coaching for U10-U17, by several of SA’s top Coaches.
U9 are able to attend on Thursday and
Friday. Applications open to athletes of
all levels of ability. Held by the SA
Little Athletics association at Santos
Stadium 9am to
12 noon.

This is a great event to try out
for your best performances. Commences
9:00am to 3.30pm at Santos Stadium, Mile End.
This event gives all registered athletes a
chance to compete against children from
other clubs in their chosen events.
Nomination forms and fees are not required
but you must be registered by 13th January
2012.
U6 - U10 athletes
may compete in five events.
U11 – U15 athletes
may compete in six events. A maximum of
3 track and 3 field events apply.
Events may only be attempted once.
Parents are required to assist with duties
during the day. Events are scheduled in
time-slots through-out the day. Athletes
are grouped into heats on first come first
serve basis. Give yourself time to warm-up
and then to the event to be allocated to
heats or groups. AE

Points are awarded for each performance,
with the top three athletes in each age
group receiving medals. Parents are
required to provide assistance to the
running of events.
Improvers'
Games

For all registered athletes (TT to U17)
who have not qualified for State
Individual Championships in more than one
event. Athletes that have qualified for
SIC in one event may not compete in that
event at Improvers' Games. Athletes can
nominate up to 7 events, 5 of these will
be selected for competition by the host
club. Tiny Tot, Under 6 to Under 8
athletes will receive a Participation
Medal. Medals are presented to the first 3
places in each event (U9 to U17).
Programme and nomination forms will be
available a few weeks beforehand.

The finale of Little Athletics
competition each year is the State
Individual Championships. Not all
competitors can be champions and Little
Athletics acknowledges this. However there
is an obligation for the talented child
who may wish to continue in the sport, and these
championships gives them an opportunity to
present their skills.
Qualifying standards are set for
all events in all age groups (they vary
for boys and girls). A list of times and
distances are on the entry form. Children
achieving these standards on 2 or more
occasions on or prior to 29 February 2012
are eligible to enter that event. Children
can enter a maximum of 5 events. Gold,
silver and bronze medals will be presented
to the first three places in each event.

responsibility to lodge their entries
with the Recorders by Friday 25 February
2012. (or at Multi-event DAy). No
late entries will be accepted. $3.00 per
event.
Children must be registered on or before
31 December 2011 and must have attended at
least half of our home meetings from the
day of registration. A minimum of 6*
attendances is required before the
qualifying date. Athletes must have
competed in 2 events each meeting
attended. Qualifying standards will only
be considered from the day of
registration.
* equate to 50% of our eligible meets for
the qualifying 2011/12 season.
Australian
Little Athletics Championship

Each year a team of boys and girls are
selected from the U13 age group. Two boys
and 2 girls from the U15 age group are
also selected to represent South
Australia in
a one-day track and field competition
against the other States. The teams are
selected on the basis of individual
performances during the season in a series
of trials. To qualify for these
Championships, an athlete must be
registered with their club. Interested U13
and U15 athletes need to join the training
squad (Squad LA) during the season.
