IGA State Relay Championships -

Sunday 4 Dec 2011

Athlete Registration Cut Off: 25 Nov 2011

Weeks 2 to 5 of our Friday night home meets will be used to select the track relay teams in the Under 9 and above age groups.
And times can be submitted from Regional day.

Athletes will be selected by the club committee, based on their two (2) best times over the four weeks. The teams will be announced and athletes need to confirm their availability. Information and relay training will be provided.

Please note: once you have been selected in a team, it is very important that you attend the event - unless ALL 4 runners are present - the other team members will not be able to participate - if you don't turn up on the day.

One of the most exciting days on the programme is the Relay Championships. This event gives centres a chance to develop team spirit. It is an ideal opportunity for children to compete together as a team. There is a March Past at 11am.

The track relay teams (all boys, all girls) compete in;

            U9 to U11: 4x100m and 4x 200m relay.                     U12 to U17: 4x100m and 4x 400m Relay.

Field relay teams compete in two throwing and two jumping events. The club will only enter field relay teams if athletes nominate for the events.

Athletes must be registered by 25 November to qualify. A parent from each team will be asked to act as manager of the team. Other parents will need to act as timekeepers and marshalls on the day.

Qualifying standards are set for all events in all age groups (they vary for boys and girls). A list of times and distances are on the entry form. Children achieving these standards on 2 or more occasions on or prior to 29 February 2012 are eligible to enter that event. Children can enter a maximum of 5 events. Gold, silver and bronze medals will be presented to the first three places in each event. See your show-bag for Entry forms. It is the athletes responsibility to lodge their entries with the Recorders by Friday 25 February 2012. (or at Multi-event DAy). No late entries will be accepted. $3.00 per event.

A minimum of 6* attendances is required before the qualifying date. Athletes must have competed in 2 events each meeting attended. Qualifying standards will only be considered from the day of registration.

Australian Little Athletics Championship

TBA

Each year a team of boys and girls are selected from the U13 age group. Two boys and 2 girls from the U15 age group are also selected to represent South Australia in a one-day track and field competition against the other States. The teams are selected on the basis of individual performances during the season in a series of trials. To qualify for these Championships, an athlete must be registered with their club. Interested U13 and U15 athletes need to join the training squad (Squad LA) during the season. Contact the committee to receive information about joining Squad LA.
