Adelaide Eagles Little Athletics Centre SALAA

Family Fun and Fitness.

Adelaide Eagles is one of many Little Athletics Centres affiliated to the South Australian Little Athletics Association. Little Athletics is a national organisation aimed at boys and girls aged 3 to 17 years that enjoy taking part in sport. Little Athletics is for children of all abilities and encourages young athletes to compete and improve themselves (personal best).

  • 2010 - 2011 season. The new season will start on Friday 15th of October 2010 6pm. This site will be updated later in the year with cost for next season and dates of key events.

Where is the Centre?

The Centre is in the South Parklands, Adelaide near the corner of South Terrace and Peacock Road:

When are the meetings and how many events are there?

Friday Evenings:

5.50pm for a 6.00pm start – 8.00pm (approx.)
Sausage sizzle from 7.00pm

Monday Training:

5.30pm– 6.30pm for U9 and older age groups

Season commences:

15 October to 17 December 2010

Recommences after Christmas break:

21 January to 1April 2011

AGM & Athlete Presentations:

8 April 2011

How much does it cost to participate?

‘Come and Try’

Children considering joining the Adelaide Eagles Little Athletics Centre may attend up to two sessions before being required to register under our ‘Come and Try’ offer. Additional participation will require children to register.

Registration

Adelaide Eagle’s LAC intention is to keep costs for families as low as possible and our fee includes summer track and field season, with professional coaching, winter cross-country season, insurance and membership of the Little Athletics Association.

The registration fees for 2009/2010 are;

*The special price for 3 or more children is only available for children living at the same address.

Fees are payable by cash or cheque made out to Adelaide Eagles Little Athletics Centre. Sorry no credit facilities available.

When you pay the registration fee you will receive a centre handbook, a registration number (to be sewn onto the front centre of uniform), an Age Group Number (to be sewn top left hand shoulder) and an IGA logo (to be sewn on the right arm sleeve of the top).

Special Needs: At the time of registering, please make it known to the centre committee if your child has any special medical needs that may effect your child’s well being whilst at the Centre, such as; asthma or allergies.

Do the athletes require a uniform? If so, where can you buy them?

Uniforms

Registered Little Athletes are encouraged to wear the correct Centre uniform to all events, and must be worn at all SALAA events. Adelaide Eagle’s uniform is a red collared shirt printed with Centre motif on the back. Boys may wear either red bike or running shorts (basketball style shorts not permitted). Girls may wear red bike shorts or red running shorts or briefs.

All the above items are available through the Club. Tiny Tots may wear a plain red polo top.

Please ensure all athletes have their cloth registration number and age group numbers attached on the front of shirt (centred) with the age number on the top left hand shoulder.

Footwear

Children must wear shoes at all times. Spiked shoes are permitted for the U12 to U17 age groups, in jump and laned events only (i.e., to a maximum distance of 400m). Spikes must be put on at the start and removed at the end of the event. Maximum spike length at Santos Stadium is 7mm.

Hats

The Centre encourages all children and parents to follow the Sun Smart Policy, wearing hats that offer maximum sun protection, as well as the use of sunscreen. Bucket hats are recommended.  If a child is competing at State-run events, they must wear their club uniform which includes a red bucket hat.

It is encouraged that all clothing that may be removed during competition have name tags to avoid confusion.
